Spring has Sprung . . . Or Has It?

On my -- it seems like old man winter is really trying
to hold on this year!
We get one or two warmish days and then it is
back to cold.
Yesterday, we had a little bit of rain and then snow flurries!
Boo!!  Come on spring!

Hope that my hydrangeas bloom
like this again this year!

To update from last Friday . . .
I did not find a sink vanity combo -
the hunt continues!
In other house-type news,
we are getting some new floors
in a couple weeks so
a major declutter
has to take place
and soon!

Pray for me --
I have a bit of a hoarding gene!

Have a fun weekend friends!

Hello Spring - Hello Weekend!

Wishing these were blooming in our yard,
but these were from last year!
Are you as excited as I am about spring!?!
We've been having some warm temps
now and then . . . but a little snow
is forecast for next week! :(

So, what's on your weekend agenda?
I am trying to find a new little combo
sink/vanity for one of the baths - yes, the one
with the new shower/tub sliding glass door (love it)!
I think there is one at Lowe's calling my name -
we will see.

In other weekend news, we are each
attempting
to throw out 10 items a week in an effort
to get rid of stuff that has been clogging up the house
and my brain for way too long.
I'm not sure that we will get the Lenten 40 bags in 40 days
accomplished, but we're making a small dent in the "stuff."
Some weeks we get more than 10
items each and some less.
Always good to have a goal, right!

Keep watching -- daffodils will be blooming
in your yard soon!
Happy Weekend Friends!

It's Not Easy Being Green!

Isn't that what Kermit the Frog says??
It's not easy being green!

It really hasn't been easy around here
because it has been very dry and the
color of the day/week/month seems to be brown! :(
Brown grass, bare trees - no flowers popping up yet!
Boo!

But -- spring will be here very soon
and so will the new
Muppet Movie!

We love the Muppets -- don't you??
Miss Piggy can be a little annoying
but the others are so fun and
adorable!

Looking forward to seeing lots of green soon
and I don't mean just Kermit the frog!
Hello Spring!!

We Love Children's Theater!

Another one of the hidden treasures in
our city . . .
Children's Theater productions!

Last weekend, Maddy and I went to see Flat Stanley, Jr.
at our Community Playhouse

I admit when we read the books, I was not totally a fan,
but the musical adventures -  so much fun!
What made it even better was
that Maddy knew some of kids
acting in the show!
The show was a sellout last
weekend and I'm sure it will be again this weekend.
If you're local and haven't seen it yet, quick try to get tickets!

As soon as we got home, Maddy signed
up for a summer "Alice in Wonderland" production!
She can hardly wait and I love
that she is willing to step out and try something new!

Looking Back!

Maddy and I have had so
much fun lately
looking and reading some old
blog posts and looking at the photos.
It's just like a scrapbook!

This is one of my all-time favorite photos of
Maddy and her cousin Grace!

Maddy was 5 and Grace was 7
and it was Pirate Night!
We were on a Disney cruise with my sister, Amy and her daughter Grace,
and a ton of cousins
to celebrate my sweet Aunt Rita's 80th birthday!

Yes, that's exactly how I
want to celebrate my 80th too!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Hello Monday!
Woohoo!
Speaking of winners, did you see this?
The Husker Women's Basketball team just won the Big 10
tournament title and the Men's team won big and
are 4th seed in the Big Ten Tourney!

Everybody knows Lee's Chicken
and it is rumored that is where the
"Winner Winner Chicken Dinner" saying originated!

In chicken-related news, we recently
visited a Lincoln landmark  --
 Lee's Chicken!

This institution started in 1945!
Really!
When the boys were little, the lines
were out the door!
They have the best fried chicken, fries
and onion rings for miles around!
The decor hasn't changed much since
1945 - but with great old-fashioned food,
who needs fancy-pants decor?

Maddy and Mr. Tennis gave it a big thumbs up!

11 Years Together

Eleven years ago we met this little darling
in a hot and humid room in Guangzhou, China!
We received the photos below before we
traveled to meet her.

I remember thinking - oh great, she's walking and only 12 months old!
Well, standing was more like it at almost 14 months when we met her.
She didn't really want to show us everything she knew and
could do when we first met.  So she crawled a lot, cried all night
and tried to keep people out of her personal space in
her own unique way.
Very bright for one so young!

She waited to make sure we were acceptable,
before she walked, smiled, laughed, trusted and began to love us.

Doesn't she have the most determined looking little face!
Wow -- such a beautiful and brave baby!

She loves big
and loves hugs --
giving and getting them!
She is a wonderful gift and blessing to our family!
We love you Maddy Boo!
