5 Things You May Not Know About Me

Due to the popularity of  my "Five on Friday",
I'm expanding it today to share
"5 Things You May Not Know About Me!"
Of course, family and friends IRL may already know these
interesting tidbits but,
please play along!  :)

1.  No Left Turns.  I hate to make left turns!  Yes, it's true I will go out of
my way and make 4 or 5 or more right turns in order to avoid a
left turn!

2.  Aerobic Mowing?  In years past (not mowing time here yet),
I have raced across the lawn calling it "Aerobic Mowing!"
In addition, every time I mow the yard, I go a different
direction and sometimes when I want to be really adventurous, I go diagonal!

3.  I Have a Twin.  Most of you probably know, I have a twin sister!
But, did you know that she is the older twin?   Yes, it's true and
as a result her name ALWAYS came first on every
birthday cake!
I am not exaggerating - every single cake
said, "Happy Birthday Judy and Janet!"
I tried sneaking in a cake giving myself top billing one year
and, she brought her own cake with . . .
you guessed it - her name first!
Do I resent never getting top billing??????
Noooooo, not much!

Brother Tom with me and Judy!

4.  Spanx and Me.  Who likes Spanx???
Raising my hand slowly.
I like what it holds in, but it's not always the most comfy
undergarment!
However, I'm old enough to remember GIRDLES -
and, believe me,
Spanx is a huge improvement!

5.  Always Hair Issues.  If you've been reading for any
amount of time, you know I have issues with my hair -
especially in the spring, summer and fall.
Humidity is not my friend!
I have tried straightening it, Brazilian blowouts, flat irons
and every potion and lotion -- it still gets very big and frizzy
just like Monica's!
Any and all advice on taming the beast is appreciated!

Stay tuned for another edition of "5 Things" coming soon!

Where We Stayed at WDW and My Hair!

More on the spring break trip to Orlando!

Isn't it so pretty!
I know you've all been waiting on a report on how my hair fared
in hot and usually humid Florida!
Guess what -- it wasn't too humid when we were there!
What a shocker!
Stay tuned for a photo at the end of this post!

We haven't stayed at this resort before -
Port Orleans Riverside.
 It's a BIG resort.
My great planning (and pure luck)
resulted in our getting a room not too far from the main
buildings and food court, close to a quiet pool AND
close to a bus stop (very, very important) for rides
to the park and back again.

Horse drawn carriage rides!
Of course, my worries about my hair were mostly unfounded!
My hair was not perfect, it never is -- but it was
way better than I ever imagined it would be for Florida!
And you know - I'm always thinking about and/or worried about my hair.

Yes, I did wear a Minnie Mouse headband
I am a goofball, after all! :)

Look at how perfect my hair looks!!!

Curly Hair - Yes Please!

You know how it goes . . .
Whatever type of hair you have --
you want the opposite.

I have curly/wavy/frizzy hair
and my lifelong dream is for straight hair.

Maddy has gorgeous straight thick hair
and she wants curly hair sometimes.

We've tried my hot rollers
(I use them to defrizz my lovely locks),
but the curl doesn't last in her heavy straight hair.
We've tried sponge and rag rollers and not been happy with the results.

Maddy and Oswald (Mickey's brother)

But, we saw some new funky hot rollers at Target@
and decided to give them a try!

They do take a while to heat up
and they did a great job on her hair!
I thought the curl would be gone within hours . . .
but there was still some curl left by the end of the day!
I'm sure if we had used some product or hairspray,
the curl would have lasted even longer!

She loved her curly-haired look!

Counting Down!

Yes, we are counting down . . .
til this LONG, cold, boring,
did I say long?
 month of
January is finally over!

We shopped on cold weekends!
But no, we did not buy  another  stuffed animal!
Just heard that it was the coldest month in 100 years!
I knew it!
Ok, I admit we had a couple warm days here and
there and I was able to get the snow and crud
washed off my big red jeep!

Muffy enjoyed a warm day in the sun!
It was so cold that Connor decided to grow
his hair out!
People --- this is big!
He has shaved his head since he was in high school and
hasn't had a real haircut for 11 or 12 years!

May look short to you, but this
is really long hair for him!
He looks so different and
I had forgotten that his hair is so black!
Don't tell him, but he is kind of a
Mr. Tennis look-alike! :)

Did you see the itty-bitty little sliver of moon
this morning?
Cutest little thing ever!!

I just did some research for you.
Evidently the moon is waning toward a new moon
(the second new moon for January) on January 30!
Get up early to see the little waning crescent moon
for the new couple days!
It will make your day to see that sweet little moon in the sky!

Hats + Fall Weather = Cool!!

October really says fall to me! One of the things that I like about fall is that you can wear a hat and not look like a total dork!! But, I have enough bad hair days without "hat head" days too! Miss Maddy, on the other hand, has perfect hair -- hats don't mess it up at all!

Last week for school pictures, Maddy said she wanted her hair curly. She announced this around 7:15 A.M. the morning of school pictures! Hot rollers to the rescue! She looked in the mirror after the magical hot rollers had done their work and believed her hair to be curly! To me, it looked like it had a bit more oomph to it and was not quite as straight as usual. She loved the "curly" look, but said no one at school noticed! Gosh -- same thing happens to me -- except no one notices when I get my hair straight!

This sweet knit beret is from last year. Don't you love a beret? Does it make you want to go to Paris? It does me!

Flashback from last fall! Looking for more hats soon -- a girl can't have too many hats, can she?
