Happy 2016!

Happy 2016!
I always have a few resolutions each and every January -
as in - eat less chocolate (seriously??);
exercise more; declutter; plan better meals, blah blah blah.
Look at me, I've already zoned out on those resolutions!

So, it's time to make resolutions/goals a lot simpler.
I saw this on a friend's FB and
decided it was appropriate for me too.
These are some habits I hope to develop this year:
Begin with gratitude;
Be hopeful;
Celebrate with joy; and
Focus on my sweet family!

I'm already feeling both grateful and joyful
that I haven't decided to give up chocolate!
;)

Love "Dove" chocolate!
Another thing I love about 2016 already . . .
it's an even-numbered year!
I'm not sure why, but it's stuck in my head that even-numbered
years are generally better or more momentous years for me in
some way, shape or fashion.
I first learned how to ride a bicycle and drive
a car in even-numbered years . . .
not the same year, of course!

Let's make this year a really good
even-numbered year, shall we!

Goals for the New Year!

Happy 2014!
I just love an even-numbered year, don't you!
It's one of those odd things about me.  :)

While I don't generally write down resolutions,
I make them in my head and
my top 3 are:  exercise,
drink more water,
become a better and nicer version of myself

I saw this pinterest list on another blog and
decided to give it a try too.

So, here are my 2014 Goals

A bad habit I'm going to break:
Eating too much chocolate!
But really, is there such a thing as too much chocolate??

A new skill I'd like to learn:
Knitting.

A person I hope to be more like:
My daughter-in-law who is super sweet and very organized!

A good deed I'm going to do:
Become a volunteer --
maybe a Meals on Wheels volunteer.

A place I'd like to visit:
Orlando :)

A book I'd like to read:
Whatever Maddy is reading.
We read her school assigned books together
so we can chat about them.

A letter I'm going to write:
To my daughter - hoping to impart some life lessons
and humor!

A new food I'd like to try:
 Vegetables.  Really -- any vegetables!

I'm going to do better at:
Decluttering and not wasting time
watching too much HGTV!

How about you?
Any goals you'd like to share?

Resolutions, Goals, Yada, Yada, Yada

Hello Friday -- TGIF!

I was going to post all about my New Year's Resolutions and Goals . . .
but it started sounding really boring and
I hate to bore you sweet readers,
so I'll only give you the top 3!

Hello 2013!
Anywhoooo -- my number 1 goal is to exercise more.
With my foot broken, wearing a gigantic boot, having
the sniffles,
plus the cold, snowy, icy weather [notice all my excuses],
I haven't exercised much in about 5 or 6 weeks.
Unless you count hobbling into the kitchen to eat Hershey Kisses as exercise!! :)

However, I am going to remedy that and am doing a fabulous exercise class at the local Y.
 It's called Power Pump.
Strength training class set to music for toning and strengthening muscles.
I need that and it is  F U N!!
But, guess what I realized -- I was the oldest one at the class!
Yikes -- at first, that made me feel even more ancient -- but then I figured --
how awesome am I to be the oldest one in a weight-training class!?!!
I would pat myself on the back but my muscles are too sore from the weights!

My number 2 goal involves organizing and decluttering --
same old story, different year, right!
Last year, I focused on the guest room and got it cleaned out and
looking pretty darn lovely by July.
This year -- Maddy and I are cleaning out Connor's old room.
New paint, new carpet, new look.
I guess it is time to get rid of his sports-themed little boy wallpaper border --
he's only 25 now and no longer living at home! :)

And another goal -- wow -- I am on a roll now.
Wear more color!!
Seriously, I think I wore some variation on black/khaki every day this week!
Starting now -- more color!

Like my new coat? It's from Lands End!
What resolutions/goals have you made?

Resolutions And Such

Of course, I have some of the same resolutions Every. Single. Year! You know the drill . . . exercise more, eat less chocolate (what?? that is not right - I cannot give up chocolate!), declutter, eat less fast food, cook more, be a nicer, better person-wife-mother, employee, etc. Sound familiar?

Ok, this year, I'm adding a few more to the list. At the top of my list for now is to figure out Photoshop. I've tried on my own a bit, but have had no luck at all -- it is so confusing -at least to me, it is! So, I'm signing up for a Photoshop class at our local community college -- can't wait to figure it all out. And, I'm going to try and take more photos of objects or scenery or people besides Miss M. Of course, she is my favorite subject, but she does tire of me pulling out the camera and pointing it at her, so am going to try some other subjects. Am also thinking of signing up for an on-line course or two -- I did one a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, even though the teacher seemed to bow out entirely after 2 or 3 lessons. But, I need to stop using my point and shoot so much and go back and work with my DSLR more. It takes great photos -- just need to give myself a little primer on it and get back at it! Here's a photo I took on a cloudy day outside. I kind of like the reflections on the table.

So, 2009 -- it's gonna be a great year, I can tell!! And this sounds crazy I know, but don't you just love an odd-numbered year?? Especially one with a nine in it -- one of my favorite numbers, for some odd reason! :)
