The Bug!

Oh no -- Mr. Tennis and I both came down with the bug . . .

Influenza A!

Yes, we had flu shots -- I even had a "super-shot" or so they said!

 

But, oh my word -- this bug makes you feel like you've

been hit or run over by a train!

We both have had fevers, body aches, tiredness, chills, 

nausea -- the whole enchilada!

Mr. T caught it first and with his comprised 

immune system due to Crohn's and biologics,

he got right to the doctor (thanks to a little nudge by moi) and on Tamiflu.

Two days later - the bug got me too!

Also went to the doc asap and on Tamiflu.

I felt a little better after a day or two,

but still exhausted.

Now, we're in the cough and really tired stage,

so Mr. T got some surgical masks for us to

wear!  It's a fun look, believe me.
Haven't worn surgical masks since we returned from
China in 2003 during the SARS epidemic!

Luckily Miss M has not caught the bug and

I sure hope she doesn't!

We're having a snow day today due

to blizzardy conditions!

I think a nap is in order very soon!

Weekend Update!

Weekend Update --

Did you know that Prince wrote "Manic Monday"

for the Bangles?

Me neither!

It's one of my favorite songs -- Maddy thought I made it up!

But no, that was Prince, not Jboo!

His sudden death was such a shock. 

I had no idea he had such a huge fanbase.  

Now, I will think of him every Monday when Maddy and I 

sing  "Just another Manic Monday, wish it was Sunday . . . "
on our way to school and work!

Miss M was not feeling well at the end of last week

 necessitating a doctor's visit!

She's generally very healthy, but we thought it might be strep as her throat

was very sore and she was exhausted.

Not strep - but a respiratory flu-like virus that wore her

out and has now moved into a croupy cough.

Poor girl -- I've been distributing Tylenol* daily.

She's doing better today but when she coughs -- watch out --

thankfully, it sounds worse than it feels!

In other happier news, look at the door poster that the senior

cheerleaders made for each of the freshman girls!

Cheer uniform ordering happened a week ago.

That's an experience!  I have no idea when they wear some of the

stuff that was required, but I'm sure we'll find out! 

Parents were instructed to 

"Bring Your Checkbook!!"

Cheer practices start in May; cheer camp in July

and fundraising has already started!

Meanwhile, Maddy continues her efforts to teach me how to do a 

cartwheel!

Like Mother, Like Daughter

Now, this is really carrying the "togetherness" thing too far I think! Miss Maddy and I are both feeling a tad bit under the weather this week. :( I must be feeling worse than she does as all I want to do is lie on the couch, watch TV and use about 5 million Kleenex. She still wants to PLAY, go somewhere, do something, even though her little nose is a big mess! I knew it would happen. Just a couple of weeks ago, I was thinking that we had all been remarkably healthy and had not even caught a cold during this cold/flu season. I know enough to never verbalize such a thought, but now I know I must not even think such a thought. We thought we had simple colds for the first week or so, but when it dragged on and got progressively worse, I knew that more than Kleenex and over-the-counter meds were needed. We've both been to the doctor and have sinusitis or whatever they're calling it. So, more Kleenex, more liquids and more chocolate and we'll be good as new soon, very soon (I hope)!
