Special Events for the Littles

Oh my word -- we had such a busy
day last Saturday!

The whole family!
It was Walt's First Communion and
Gloria's baptism!
Later that day, we attended my nephew's wedding reception!
Three holy sacraments in one day - that's a record!

Walter
We started the morning at Walt's First Communion.
So special and wonderful to see so many
2nd graders and their parents celebrating!

Harry and Dorothy - buddies forever!
Shortly after First Communion was finished,
Father Meysensburg (one of the priests/administrators from Pius X)
 conducted Gloria's baptism!
She slept through the entire event!
Good job Gloria!
Philip, Catherine, Gloria and Father Meysenburg
Philip and Catherine had a wonderful lunch
afterwards celebrating both big events!

Cookies -- YUM!
Stay tuned for the wedding reception details coming soon!

Landscaping Club!

Did you know there's a Landscaping Club
in high school?
So many club options these days - not
like in the dark ages when I was in high school
and the only club was Pep Club!

Maddie and I helped design a decal for
members to put in their car windows -
a trend that is very popular in high school . . .
at least around here!
Options 2 and 3 were available.
The Vice Principal nixed Option 1 -- I think
it reminded him of my wild and frizzy hair!
:)

Last week the club members pulled weeds in the courtyard area.
Spring cleanup of school grounds is scheduled in a few weeks.

At the club meeting the other day,
they learned how to make wrist corsages!
What a great talent and so useful with prom coming up soon!

Speaking of landscaping, I've started spring cleanup in our yard!
OH MY WORD!!
The heavy snow this past winter really
hammered the yard!
Leaves are packed down deep
and very, very, very dirty!
There's a lot of work to do
but happily I finished most of the front yard.
Super happy to see so many signs of spring!

Happy Spring!!

Greetings April!!

Wishing we had sunshine and palm trees in Nebraska - but
no such luck!
We'll take some sunshine and warm temps!
Happy April!!

Adios March!

Are you as surprised as I am that March is
already coming to a close??
Sadly, we are ending it in Nebraska just as we started it -
with snow forecast!
Just say NOOOO!
Bye Bye March!

In other random news, little granddaughter Dorothy
turned 3 yesterday!
Ahhhh - I remember the day she was born and I spilled
the beans that "it's a girl" before they told me not to tell
the kids!  OY!
They'll never forget how Mimi screwed that one up! :)

We'll be celebrating Dorothy's birthday on Sunday
with pancakes, waffles, Eggs Benedict and bacon!
Always bacon! Yum!
(These photos were borrowed from their family b-day celebration!)

And next year, we'll have another March birthday to celebrate -
Baby Gloria is now 3-1/2 weeks old already!

In more random news,
Mads and I  tried our hands at a crafty little Easter egg
project recently!

Craft eggs with Modge-Podged designs.
Gorgeous, right?
I hope to get a few more done over the weekend . . .
instead of cleaning closets and drawers.
Avoidance is one of my best attributes!

How about you?
 What's up this weekend?

5 Things You May Not Know About Me

Due to the popularity of  my "Five on Friday",
I'm expanding it today to share
"5 Things You May Not Know About Me!"
Of course, family and friends IRL may already know these
interesting tidbits but,
please play along!  :)

1.  No Left Turns.  I hate to make left turns!  Yes, it's true I will go out of
my way and make 4 or 5 or more right turns in order to avoid a
left turn!

2.  Aerobic Mowing?  In years past (not mowing time here yet),
I have raced across the lawn calling it "Aerobic Mowing!"
In addition, every time I mow the yard, I go a different
direction and sometimes when I want to be really adventurous, I go diagonal!

3.  I Have a Twin.  Most of you probably know, I have a twin sister!
But, did you know that she is the older twin?   Yes, it's true and
as a result her name ALWAYS came first on every
birthday cake!
I am not exaggerating - every single cake
said, "Happy Birthday Judy and Janet!"
I tried sneaking in a cake giving myself top billing one year
and, she brought her own cake with . . .
you guessed it - her name first!
Do I resent never getting top billing??????
Noooooo, not much!

Brother Tom with me and Judy!

4.  Spanx and Me.  Who likes Spanx???
Raising my hand slowly.
I like what it holds in, but it's not always the most comfy
undergarment!
However, I'm old enough to remember GIRDLES -
and, believe me,
Spanx is a huge improvement!

5.  Always Hair Issues.  If you've been reading for any
amount of time, you know I have issues with my hair -
especially in the spring, summer and fall.
Humidity is not my friend!
I have tried straightening it, Brazilian blowouts, flat irons
and every potion and lotion -- it still gets very big and frizzy
just like Monica's!
Any and all advice on taming the beast is appreciated!

Stay tuned for another edition of "5 Things" coming soon!

Five on Friday!

A quick Five on Friday Post!

1.  #NebraskaStrong -- The State of Nebraska has been devastated
by the "bomb cyclone" and flooding of the last week!  So sad to see entire towns
wiped out, livestock killed, houses and barns floating away.
As our state song says,
"We'll all stick together in all kinds of weather"
and the entire State has rallied to help those out who have
sustained horrendous losses.
Please Pray for Nebraska.

2.  Hogwarts!  I never finished reporting on our February Orlando trip!
Does visiting Hogwarts University count as a college visit??? :)
So. Much. Fun!

3.  Hogwarts Train.  Coming from a railroad family - there was no way
we could miss seeing and riding the Hogwarts Express.
The steam engines reminded me of my dear Dad who was
a railroad engineer all his life!
He would have loved that train!

4.  Minions and the Girls!  When we heard there was a breakfast
buffet at our hotel with the Minions, we signed right up!
What a hoot! Despicable Me Forever!

5.  The Castle!  The Harry Potter castle and rides were beyond
amazing!  What fun!
Truth be told - we missed Disney a little - so sneaked
over for a one-day quick visit!

Happy Weekend!

Lucky No. 5

On March 5th, my 5th grandchild was born!
Lucky Number 5!

A little girl weighing in at 8 pounds, 12 ounces.
Her name is Gloria and she is a little beauty!

She joins her happy parents and brothers and sisters!
Jane - 9; Walt - 7; Harry - 5 and Dorothy - 3!

I stayed with the kiddos while my son and his wife were in the
hospital from Monday through Thursday.
Gloria and parents arrived home to a snow day off from school!
This weather has been the wackiest and we
ended up with over 50 inches of snow
this season.
Welcome sweet baby Gloria!
