Back to School!

Yes, Maddy joined the throngs of school-age kids starting school last week. She started on Thursday and only had half days. She did fabulously (if I may say so myself)! And who could possibly resist a little girl in her uniform! Her uniform also consists of khaki or navy shorts and/or pants in the wintertime. But, guess who NEVER wears shorts or pants??? Yes, my girly girl -- she only wears her jumper. The big decision every day is what color polo to wear with her uniform -- yellow, navy or white? She and her friend usually decide the day before as to what color they will wear -- is it crazy that this is happening in first grade??

Last year, it took until March for her to feel comfortable enough to get out of the car in the school drive-thru lane. I'm almost certain it won't take that long this year -- though we haven't gotten to that point just yet since it's only been two days.

The FM system for her hearing aid is not quite set up. I am not surprised at that as it seems to take a bit longer for the public school system to provide services to kids in private schools. Am hoping that it will be ready and working some time next week. And she has homework already = they really pile it on in first grade! Well, not really homework. She has a list of words for the spelling test next Friday, so we're playing school and practicing those words a bit every day. Her teacher seems very nice, and I think she will have a very good year. She's off to a great start!

She looks darling...and it sounds promising that she is going to have a fabulous year!! I think you should make a little bit of a (nice) fuss about the FM system! It is inconceivable that it is not in place for the first day...public or private school! I have learned during my years of working in special ed....the squeaky parent gets the grease (or FM system as the case may be!)

What a big girl you have!! Good job Maddy!

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions....so cute that they are already planning what polos to wear each day!!

Maddy looks adorable in her little jumper!

First Grade is such a fun year.....and get used to the homework.....the catholic schools usually pile it on....I can't believe what Nick brings home compared to my friends children who attend public schools!

Enjoy your weekend!

Maddie is so cute in her school uniform. Be glad all she has to choose is her polo color! My son also started first grade last week, but no real homework yet!

I hope they get the FM system set up soon.

She just could not be any cuter in that uniform! It's enough to make me want to go out and buy my daughter one, even though she's three years away from kindergarten. Is that bad?

That is so cute.. what color polo to wear! I hope that she loves school! My niece (coming from India in two months), is deaf in one ear, and partially deaf in the other, so I am very interested in Maddy's FM system. Here's to a new year. First grade is such a big step... my kids always found it exhausting.
