Flipflops in February!

For the second weekend in a row,
we had temps in the 70s on Saturday -
record high of 77!
Woohoo -- bring out the shorts and
flipflops!

Flipflops at Disney 2011!
Miss Maddy did, in fact, wear flipflops on Saturday
and loved every minute of it!
This spring preview has everyone in a good
mood!  Even though we know it will get cold again,
and we may have some snow -
there is a warm light at the end of
the winter tunnel!

After a fun weekend, warm weather and flipflops,
today turned into a bit of a Miserable Monday for Miss M.
Her visit to the dermatologist for a nasty and painful scar resulted
in a terrible, awful, no-good, very bad procedure.
First, the scar (known as a keloid)
was sprayed with some freezing aerosol stuff (yes, I use technical language)
to make it puff up.
As if that wasn't painful enough, it was then injected with a needle
a few times with a steroid!  Ouch!
We will also treat it with steroid cream and hope to flatten
it out and make it less painful.
Fingers crossed!
Maddy is such a brave and tough girl!

And now it's time to study for a massive social studies test, religion quiz
and do math homework.
The fun never ends on this Miserable Monday.
Hoping for a Terrific Tuesday!

Never Too Old for Chalk Drawings!

Last Saturday, we had the most perfect weather!
It was 68 degrees and sunny!
Yard work called my name,
while some new chalk called Miss M's name!

Still not too old for chalk drawings in the driveway!

Spring and Easter are on our mind and
we were lucky to snag tickets
for ourselves and the littles (Janie, Walt & Harry)
to Breakfast with the Easter Bunny
at the zoo!
We can hardly wait!
Hippity Hoppity!

TGIF and a Sneak Peak of Spring

Today we are celebrating that it is Friday . . . at last!
And
that we are having the most wonderful warm
weather sneak peak of Springtime!
2013 - Jumping for Joy!

Last week, I witnessed at least 10 Robins flitting and flying around
Starbucks - a sure sign of early Spring!
I'm certain they were waiting for
someone to drop a tidbit of a cake-pop!
Do you love those as much as I do??

And this weekend -- we're having temps in
the high 60s for a day or two!

Yippee Skippee!

We can't wait til it's summer and some pool time again!
Yes, I am jumping a bit ahead of myself!

Isn't is just amazing and wonderful what a burst
of warm and sunny weather will do
for your spirits!
Have a super weekend!

The Valentine's Weekend Report!

Hello Friends --
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend full of love and chocolates! :)
Isn't it simply the perfect holiday when chocolates are the number 1 gift!
I'd take chocolates any day over flowers!  :)

We started our Valentine's Day with . . .
what else --
chocolate covered donuts!
Yum!!!

Later, we attended a Nebraska  tennis match - Huskers v. Colorado State!
Wow -- their new soccer/tennis facility
is fabulous!!
Love watching college and/or professional level tennis!
Truth be told -- I love watching high school tennis too!
One year, we saw Sampras v. Agassi in Phoenix -
they were amazing -- it was so much fun!
FYI - Sampras was not a good loser!

Besides chocolate donuts and candies,
fruit was also on our agenda!
Miss Maddy's favorite fruit -- chocolate covered strawberries!
It was a lovely weekend and made even
better with warmer temps --
 bye bye snow! :)

High School Orientation!

Big night last Monday night . . .
High School Orientation for Miss M!

She will be attending our local (the one and only)
Catholic high school where her brothers
attended and mastered the curriculum
and dominated the tennis courts! :)

Huge crowd at orientation with students and parents
from all of the city's Catholic elementary schools and
any other interested students in town.

Truth be told, I think the guidance counselor
scared most of the kids with the class
schedule -- oy -- how to handle all those classes,
find the way through the halls and the most
important task of all . . .
figure out how to open your locker!

There are tons of activities and clubs to participate in at Pius.
She took information on choir, cheerleading and tennis!

It will be an exciting time to be sure!
Gooooooooo Bolts!

Husker Gymnastics!

One of the many benefits of living
in a University town is fairly easy access
to college athletic events --
unless you're talking about Husker football.
That's a little different - as in - hard to get tickets to attend!

Husker Gymnastic - 2009 - Bandana Day! Maddy and our neighbor Sarah.

But, Husker Gymnastics events are great fun and one
of the more economical (cheap) events to attend!
We've been going for years!

Senior Tricia Woo in 2009
Mr. Tennis and Maddy went to this year's first Women's Gymnastics meet a couple weeks ago,
and we all went last week!
Wow -- the 17th ranked Huskers were up against
#3 ranked Michigan.
Guess who won??
Huskers!!
Cool red and white pendant lights!

After the awards, we were going to wait for autographs from the team,
but the line was longer than for a Disney princess,
so we opted out.

It was great fun and we loved seeing those fabulous
women athletes!
Gooooooo Huskers!

Hello February!

Thank you all for your sweet comments and concern
in response to my last post!
I'm feeling better every day!

I just love to welcome February and say bye-bye to January,
don't you?!
One month closer to spring!!!

A great big, bad blizzard is forecast for tonight
and tomorrow!
We are praying for a snow day.
If we have to have snow, might as well get
enough for a snow day!
Am I right??? :)
Monsignor Tucker getting ready for a snowball fight!

Temps on Saturday and Sunday were in the 50s!
Typical Nebraska -- wait a few hours and the weather
changes!

Mr. Tennis requested a fave winter menu for
tonight -- homemade beef stew and biscuits!
And yes, I did actually prepare it!
Go me!

I must have been channeling my dear Aunt Yvonne
as I have used nearly every pot and pan in the house!
Yummy Bisquick biscuits too!

Stay warm friends -- and
remember . . .
we are one month closer to Spring!!
