Of course, I have some of the same resolutions Every. Single. Year! You know the drill . . . exercise more, eat less chocolate (what?? that is not right - I cannot give up chocolate!), declutter, eat less fast food, cook more, be a nicer, better person-wife-mother, employee, etc. Sound familiar?
Ok, this year, I'm adding a few more to the list. At the top of my list for now is to figure out Photoshop. I've tried on my own a bit, but have had no luck at all -- it is so confusing -at least to me, it is! So, I'm signing up for a Photoshop class at our local community college -- can't wait to figure it all out. And, I'm going to try and take more photos of objects or scenery or people besides Miss M. Of course, she is my favorite subject, but she does tire of me pulling out the camera and pointing it at her, so am going to try some other subjects. Am also thinking of signing up for an on-line course or two -- I did one a couple of years ago and enjoyed it, even though the teacher seemed to bow out entirely after 2 or 3 lessons. But, I need to stop using my point and shoot so much and go back and work with my DSLR more. It takes great photos -- just need to give myself a little primer on it and get back at it! Here's a photo I took on a cloudy day outside. I kind of like the reflections on the table.
So, 2009 -- it's gonna be a great year, I can tell!! And this sounds crazy I know, but don't you just love an odd-numbered year?? Especially one with a nine in it -- one of my favorite numbers, for some odd reason! :)

Great resolutions, however, I know the "eat less chocolate" part is definitely out for you! I can't wait to hear all about your Photoshop class! How very exciting! The picture posted is fabulous!
Jan, I think that picture is fantastic...the reflection is really cool!!
How exciting about the Photoshop classes...you know, I have played around with it for about 6 months and cannot figure it out either...the photography workshop is going to do a half day, crash course in Photoshop, so I am hoping to at least get the basics!!!
Sounds like a really exciting year for you my friend.....I do hope 2009 is an amazing one:)

I'm still trying to figure out photoshop as well. I swear it should be more user friendly, I'm glad I'm not the only one who struggles with it. Great idea for the class, let us know any secrets you learn! :)
Great photo by the way.

I'm so excited for you! I wish I could take a photoshop class too!
That's so funny that what you just said about odd years, I was totally telling my husband that I thought odd number years were lucky too! He thought I was crazy but when I told him he was born in 1965 I was born in 1967 our son 2001 and our daughter 2003 he agreed with me! : )
Great picture that you took by the way!!!
I am with you...everyone wants to eat better and exercise more, myself included. I wish you the best of luck! Maybe if you are learning about Photoshop, you won't be thinking about chocolate so much? ;) Not likely, right? Not for me, anyway!
Carrie
Oh my! How can you eat less chocolate and be nicer?!? ;)

Sounds like me Janet - our lists are pretty much the same! My Photoshop skills are okay . . . but could be better. Follow your passion girl! Can't wait to see more of your work like the one you posted!!
Beautiful pic. Have not attempted photoshop yet. A class is a great idea. Here's to a great 2009!
That is a beautiful shot!!
Sounds like your new years will be very enriching for you! You go girl!! I am thinking about you and hoping that this year is so great for you! You are such a lovely person, you deserve to be showered in blessings and loveliness!!
Photoshop is so hard. I downloaded a free trial for 30 days. I had a friend show me how to use it(just some basics)and I couldn't figure it out after he left.
I would love to take a photoshop class. Someday!!!
Love your picture. The reflection is great.

Im so with you on the photoshop thing. I dont have it but need to get it so I can start making my pics look awesome. I need to look at the community college level-- that is a great idea. I think your photo subject is just perfect the way it is-- Ms. Maddy is perfect!
Christy :)
Sounds like a great idea to take the class at a local college... good idea!
You asked about where we live in NE Florida. Yes, we live on the St. Johns River but on the west bank in Green Cove Springs. If you are in PVB, let us know!

Cool picture and reflection. I say good for you for enrolling in a Photoshop class! I think that's the way to kick off a new year... make things happen!! I look forward to seeing some examples of what you learn. I am a PaintShop Pro user myself, but it pains me every time I go to a store and see the PS books with lots of creative ideas. Maybe in 2009, you'll be reading those and sharing your great tips with us!
I also have very big hopes for 2009! Good luck :)!
Boy we are striving for similar things this year (and every year!). Although putting photography on the front burner is one of my goals too. I love learning about Photoshop and still have ways to go!
Here's to a wonderfully creative 2009. Odd number or not!
I am having someone (the person we have had several photo shoots with lately) teach a class at our home in March for 5 days, so I need to take an online course before she gets here. Let us know which one you like. I am very curious. I know what you mean about the resolutions--- I have the same ones too!
