Maddy and Her Pets

Unfortunately, the Fourth of July weekend was dreary, rainy and chilly around here. I don't remember when we've had such a downcast day for the 4th. Usually, we head to a big pool party, but that was not to be this year. But, we made our own fun! Maddy and her dogs, Biscuit and Lucky, both animatronic (?) had fun indoors and posed for pictures.

And we did get to visit my parents and Philip and Catherine too. Philip and Catherine were babysitting a friend's dog, a Pekepoo named Lulu. Larry (their dog, a Bichon) and Lulu had so much fun together. Maddy loved seeing them. I'd show a photo, but it would just be a big blur as those dogs were tearing around like crazy.

But, not to worry about our dreary day, it cleared off enough Saturday night to join neighbors and set off lots of fireworks! And here's one of the big differences between raising boys and girls. The boys would have been setting off fireworks all day long and we would have made numerous trips to the fireworks stands to replenish. Maddy was fine with doing a few sparklers and even sat on my lap to watch some fireworks. A much calmer and safer 4th than some when the boys were growing up! :)

P.S. I'm not the meanest mom on the block . . . Maddy does have a pet -- meet her fish Janie!

Happy 4th of July! Are you any where near Iowa City? Our daughter said it was cool and rainy there, too.

I love the name Maddy!! My only problem is I have a Matty!! (We often call our oldest Matt- Matty)!

Blessings to you!

Maddy looks so cute with her dogs! Lucy has the same kind of dogs as pets:) she also has a fish - which is about all I can care for! Sounds like a fun fourth even with the bad weather. We had overcast skies but it only rained for about 20 minutes! Hope all's well and you have a great week ahead of you!

Jan -- Could you even believe our lousy weather this year? It didn't even feel like the 4th of July! It looks like you had a great day despite the crappy weather! I am so glad to see I am not the meanest mother either, although Carson begs for a dog almost weekly! Our Beta fish, Rocky, is still going strong! No more goldfish for the Leader family! We can't keep them alive!

Don't worry... I'm the meanest mom on the block. No pets! :) haha!! We did have a fish but it *ahem* passed on from "the ick" Who knew??

What fun 'pets'! I am glad that you had fun lighting fireworks Saturday night. I can't believe how lousy the weather was. We went camping and I had to borrow jeans from my mom and buy a pair for Alyssa to watch the fireworks in it was so chilly.

Hope you have a good week!

Cute pictures of Maddy.
Well those dogs look like good, quiet, non-shedding pets. You don't have to clean up after them, and that is a big bonus.
Tell Maddy that her fish is very cute. :)

Ha, I love the fish picture. Ahhh how kids remember their fish ~good thing you took the picture. My Isabella still likes to see her picture of the fish we used to have.
Glad you were able to do some FW. We had a lot of rain too but it did clear up. Happy Fourth!

Ellie and Maddie would have so much fun together...she loves her stuffed dogs too. Sorry to hear the weather wasn't so good for the 4th. Glad to hear you had fun anyway.

Alexa loves her stuffed pets too, sometimes more than her 3 real fur friends. We have a Beta too, somehow her fish is now "my" fish to feed...hmmm, how does that happen?

Sounds like you made the most of your dreary weather!! If you remember we had torrential downpours last year and had a houseful of people that should have been outside on the new deck:)

Girls are so much different than boys......gotta love those sparklers....they work like a charm and they are much more safe than those big boomers the boys like to light!!

Hope you have a great week!

It s just not supposed to rain on the Fourth- is it!

Maddy looked like she had a fun day regardless. Time with you and the family. That is what it is all about anyway. She is adorable and I wish we were closer in location- my Grace would love Maddie- they both love their doggies.

We had bad weather as well. Do you care for me to ask, where you guys live? We are in Ky., but you may have already known that from Felicia and Marla's blog...lol.

We have a dog, but Ella is so ready for her to go to the rainbow bridge so she can have a cat. She keeps telling me..."but mommy, just suprise me." Yeah right!!!!
