We had a fun Christmas anyway even though Philip and Catherine were unable to get here due to the weather conditions. We played games, watched movies and Mr. Tennis challenged Maddy to figure out a Rubik's cube! Note to others -- do NOT buy your child a Rubik's cube and tell them you will give them some $$ to get it figured out. Such a tactic results in frustration, some tears and the Mom (moi) hiding the cube and hoping it is never found!
Guess what else -- I cooked . . . a lot! Quite an accomplishment for me. I admit that I am sometimes the queen of fast and/or frozen foods. I made some Chicken and Wild Rice soup (yum), beef brisket (yummy), mashed potato casserole (extremely yummy - from my blog friend Lisa) and some chocolate scotcheroos (delish)!! Still on my list to be made today or tomorrow -- Spinach/Bacon quiche, chicken enchiladas and Hershey kiss cookies!
Bet you guess my New Year's resolution! But until then, bring on the chocolate! :)

Your Christmas sounds very similar to ours -- lots of games, movies and eating! I have gained so much weight that I may be showing up to work in my PJs next week!
I hope the snow melts soon because it is about killing me not to get to the after Christmas sales!
We are going to try to go bowling tomorrow instead! Hope you have a great weekend!
Now that is a lot of snow! I wish we had got at least a dusting. We are in sunny Florida now with no snow in sight, sigh.....
Have a great New Years!
From the 23rd through today, Norfolk is at close to 18 inches of snow. I haven't left the house since Tuesday afternoon. I am eating everything and I just wish I could get to the YMCA to work out. I will not weigh myself for a few weeks to recover from being snowed in. Take care and stay warm!
Glad you had a white Christmas!!! I so wish we had some of it. It was in the 60's on Christmas eve. Your food looks and sounds yummy!
Hugs :)
Can you believe we've had so much snow?? We had about that much too. Crazy. I'm glad it's done for the most part.
Yay, for you, doing all of that cooking. Sounds delicious.
Missed your posting on the ornaments and tree below. Very pretty!
Wow, I can't believe all the snow. Sorry not everyone could get there for Christmas but it sounds like you had fun anyway!
Your christmas sounds wonderful...blizzard and all. And your menu sounded delicious!!
isnt this white snow beautiful.
glad you had a lovely weekend.

I SO thought we would have a white Christmas, since we got 22 inches on Saturday... but - alas! - the temperatures soared yesterday and all of the snow melted! Happy Christmas to you and yours! That solitude sounds divine after spending three days in a house with 14 people.
Now that's what I call a white Christmas. Sorry your son and daughter-in-law could't make it in. I too have never mastered the Rubics cube. I hate that little thing.
We still have no snow. I probably shouldn't even type this because that's when we'll get dumped on. Snow is pretty but I can really do without.
Enjoy your weekend!
being trapped at home with good company and good food is a wonderful thing. Glad you enjoyed the casserole!!
Yum. That sandwich looks good!! But my mother has been feeding me more than I should eat... my new year's resolution is to eat less!! :)
And that is A LOT of snow!! Wowza. I wouldn't have gone out for days.
Wow you really got blasted didn't you! We got the ice part of it mostly and my parents couldn't get here because of the roads.
All that food you've been cooking sounds really yummy! my diet starts this week...have to get the cookies out of the house first!
Oh my - the snow looks c-c-cold and deep! Glad it didn't hamper your Christmas spirit. Your meal sounds scrumptious too - I want a bite of that sandwich now! Thanks for the warning on the Rubik's Cube ;0)
holy cow!!i've never seen anything like that....your neighborhood looks simply gorgeous though.
funny about the competitive rubiks cube deal!
stay warm & toasty my friend

Yum. What time is dinner tonight, lol! Sorry Phillip and Catherine couldn't make it but it sounds like you had a great Christmas even with the snow. Hope you nabbed some post-Chirstmas sales too!
That sounds great and what a fun time!!! I wish we had your snow!
Happy New Year girl!

Yes, that is a great title for a book. And your Christmas sounds like a nice version of it too.
Yummy eats!
I made that mistake (the Rubik's cube bribe) when my son was little. You know what he did? He PEELED off the colored stickers and rearranged them!
Yep, he's quite the problem solver!
;)

That's a lot of snow! Wow, now that's a white Christmas! : ) Glad you guys had a great Christmas and good job on all of the cooking. Happy New Year!
Your Christmas sounded utterly relaxing. A good snowfall can do that. I had to laugh about getting to the after xmas sales, they're my favorite part of the season! :)
