The First Day of School

[ 3rd Grade - 2010 - 8 years old]

Maddy's school started today.

What happy and excited faces I saw this morning --
and I mean the students too, not just the parents! :) Tee hee hee!

[Maddy and Mr. Tennis for the obligatory 1st day photo]

Maddy has been looking forward to the start of school and seeing her friends, but a little bit nervous about being a 3rd grader! She got a letter in the mail the other day from her teacher! Wow -- that meant a lot and she was thrilled to get it!

When we got to school this morning, one of her friends that we haven't seen all summer said "Oh Maddy, I need a hug!"
The girls gave each other big hugs [so sweet]!

And then her friend said, "You shrunk!" YIKES!!!

I thought it would be fun to see some flashbacks from previous
first days of school!

2006 - Preschool (4 years old)

2007 -- Kindergarten (5 years old)

2008 -- 1st Grade (6 years old)

2009 --2nd grade (7 years old)

Wasn't that a fun trip down memory lane?? It was for me too! :)

Look, I managed to get in one photo today!! :)

What a fun trip down memory lane! Maddy looks sooooo adorable in her plaid jumpers! I am pretty sure Carson couldn’t survive the dress code there! He would want to know if navy and khaki t-shirts would be acceptable! HA HA! Hope she has a great day!

I love the flashback photos. So sweet. I'm not ready for return of the back to school routine and the start of Junior High...sigh.

OK, you are entirely too 'on the ball'! :-) I am going crazy over the fact that you have a "yearly" picture from the first day of school. I absolutely LOVE that! Your daughter is BEAUTIFUL. I got one (ONE!) shot of my boys going to school: a shot of them walking up the sidewalks (late) while all the other kids were already lining up. I couldn't be organized if my life depended on it - ugh!

First of all, so glad you hopped in a photo! Great to put a face to the name! You're lovely. Secondly, Maddy is such a cutie. She exudes joyfulness and a gentle spirit through her photos. Adorable! Third, LOVE the 'you shrunk' comment. So fun to see things through a child's eyes! ha!

I love the flashback pictures too. I think AA looks a little like Maddy in her earlier pictures.
Glad you included a picture of Mommy and Daddy; somehow we are always taking the pictures, but it is important to have these special days include the whole family.

I found you over at Nie's show and tell. I thought that you might enjoy a project that I have going on over at my Blog. Every Tuesday I host The Happiness Project. You simply post a photo of something that makes you happy and then link up.

I'm trying to take over the Blogosphere with happiness. Here is a link to this week's post if you want to see what it's all about.
