1st day, Last Day, New Adventures

August, 2008

Maddy finished first-grade the other day. Look at her there when she started last August -- so excited about being a first-grader! And wow -- kids learn a lot in first grade -- reading, writing little stories, prayers, lots of math, not to mention figuring out all the first grade rules and making new friends. It's been a great year for her! Here she is yesterday celebrating, in the immortal words of Alice Cooper (maybe?), that "school's out for summer!"

And a new adventure beginning for my sweet middle child!
Cboo left this morning for a new job in Peoria, Illinois. He and the Rickster took off with a uhaul trailer of stuff. Reminded me a little bit of when Rick and I moved to Philadelphia after we got married driving a uhaul -- hope he doesn't have a repeat of that moving adventure! They plan to look for an apartment and hope he finds one as he starts work at an insurance investment company on Monday. We do have family in Peoria. and he can bunk with them for a while if needed. So exciting for him and little sad for me as Connor was my baby for 15 years until Maddy arrived. We will miss his sweet smile and easygoing attitude, but are so excited for him to be starting this new chapter in his life.

Good Luck! We'll Miss You!

Best wishes to your Connor, I know how that is when one of your children leaves to move to a new place. That's great that you have family there.

Love the first and last pics of Miss Maddie, sounds like she had a very successful year. Yep...I remember that Alice Cooper song...love it!

Have a great weekend!

How can Maddy be done with 1st grade already? I bet she's grown so much this past year (not just in pictures).

What a exciting time for Connor! Hope all goes well in his apartment hunting.

Have a great weekend!

Congrats on a successful 1st grade year. I teach second grade, so I can assure you that second will be just as much fun! I love Maddy's expression in the second photo, it shows how I felt today on my last day of school!

Congrats to Connor... and I'll bet your still stunned that he is moving on and Maddie is moving up to SECOND grade. Oh, my goodness. Tie surely flies. The husband and I spent last week arguing about how long we've lived in our current house. Turns out we were BOTH wrong - it's been six years (the husband thought four and I thought five).

Love the pics of Maddie. That is a great idea and I will have to do that for Lily Wen's kindergarten year!

Thinking of you as Connor moves. I know that will be hard!

Maddie may be dressed the same and wearing her hair the same in both pictures, but her facial expressions speak volumes about how she feels about starting and ending school. I love the look of pure joy on her last day!!

Congratulations and good luck to Connor!!

Hope the new adventures go well for your precious children. I am sure it was hard to see Connor go but at least you have family there to look after him.
