It's Me or the Dog!

The show -- I'm talking about the tv show, of course! One of Maddy's favorite shows is Animal Planet's "It's Me or the Dog!" I tell you -- that show scares the daylights out of me! Those are some naughty dogs and/or baaaad owners who have not properly trained their pups! You know, I might not be so hesitant to get a dog if I had Victoria around to help train it! Do you think I can put in an early request for her assistance?? Remember -- our own pooch will be arriving some time in June. At this time, the breed winning the vote is a Scottish terrier. The main requirement by Maddy for a dog is that it have pointy, standing-up ears! My requirement is that it not be too big or too dumb! Any and all suggestions for other smallish- pointy-eared dogs welcome!

Here's Maddy with her fave puppy at the moment -- wonder-dog Larry! If only Larry had those pointy ears, he'd be perfect! Well, almost perfect -- he did chew half-a-pack of gum the other day. It gave him a little tummy ache, but his breath was minty-fresh!!

Larry is such a cute little guy and Maddy adores him! She brought along a crazy toy dog she has and we think Larry thought it was a real dog! The toy (the black and white animal above) laughs and flops over this way and that, hooting like it has just heard or told the funniest joke ever! Larry loved playing with it and nearly jumped onto the kitchen counter to get it after we put it up and, we thought . . . out of sight. Larry is as smart as a whip -- he rings a little bell by their sliding glass doors when he needs to go out. If they don't respond quickly enough, they hear "ding ding ding ding ding ding."

Larry is not sure just what is coming up and may disrupt his world a little bit. Philip and Catherine's baby is due in only about six weeks! Look at their adorable nursery! They did a great job on getting the room ready -- all we need now is Baby Boo! And no, we don't know if it's a boy or girl yet -- that adds to the surprise, doesn't it! Did you know that Philip and Catherine's baby will be the very first grandchild for me and Mr. Tennis and the first great grandchild for my parents -- sweet!?!

Jan -- I think you better reconsider your June puppy date after all of my recent puppy horror stories. DON'T DO IT! Seriously, Maddy will love having a dog. My kids do (when he is not biting them)!

Larry is sooo cute and the nursery is even cuter! I am sooo excited for Philip and Catherine. They are going to be fabulous parents! Congratulations!

I'm so excited that Maddy will be getting a puppy! (& I love It's Me or the Dog too) Other than greeting our guest too exuberantly (still), Wrigley is really turning out to be a wonderful family dog. & lol, if you get a smart dog, you may wish it were just a little bit dumber some days!

So exciting for your grandbaby! Our third is due in early May.

That nursery is adorable! I'm glad they don't know what they are having. There are too few surprises in life anymore, let that be one of them.

The Tongginator's best friends got a puppy a few months ago and now that's ALL I ever hear. But... um... asthma and allergies, dear Tongginator - it ain't gonna happen! Love that Maddie will have one soon, but please don't tell the Tongginator. *grin*

Maddy will so love having a puppy. Lily and the boys love Pretzel so much! He can provide lots of entertainment.

He's not pointy eared, but Pretzel is a labradoodle. He's actually an Australian labradoodle which is a specific mix, but he's an AWESOME dog. The kids can do almost anything to him already. He's a mini/medium size so he will max out at about knee height and 25 lbs. Also, he is fluffy, curly, and soft like a stuffed animal but doesn't shed!

Very exciting about your first grandchild! Maddy will also have fun with a new baby around!

Boy when I saw Maddy's picture pop up on my blogger dashboard I thought for a moment, June came fast! She's sure gonna love that little pointy eared dog when he finally arrives home!

Can't wait to see a post when your 1st grandchild arrives! How exciting for all of you!

Stay warm!

Oh my goodness, we love this show too. We watch it before going to church each Sunday and have found Victoria's techniques work!

What a cute story about Larry...my dogs have never eaten gum before! I saw a dog drink tea from a tea cup on the show this morning - it was hilarious!

Maddy is going to be in paradise this summer!

Have a wonderful week friend!

You're getting a puppy and a grandbaby?! No fair. :) Just kidding.
Those are both exciting news, especially the grandbaby that will soon be coming.

I love to watch It's Me Or the Dog. That Victoria can whip any dog and/or owner into shape.

Pointy ears, huh??

Our puppy is a cavacahon (which Larry looks like a bichon) - ours half bichon and half cavalier king charles. So, no pointy ears - but super cute and low maintenance - she doesn't require a ton of exercise & her hair is not as demanding as a bichon's!!

You are way to young to be a grandmother girl... So exciting though! Nothing better than babies.

Hi Janet,
Hey, just to let you know... I have a mini toy chihuahua with pointy ears. He is adorable, I love him, but whatever you do don't get one! LOL! They are alot of work, more then most dogs and they tend to only be friendly to one of their masters. Most people say "oh my dog doesn't bite." I am always sad to say, "you might not want to get close to him, he's not too nice and will bite."
Just telling you how it is, though it may not be this way with all chihuahuas I heard more are meaner then nice.

Have fun!
Congrats to soon becoming grandparents... I love being grandma!

You a grandma! Really!!! Since I don't remember seeing a picture of you I guess I assumed you were my age. How exciting is that?! I bet you are beside yourself:)

how exciting! The arrival of a puppy and a baby! My yorkie has stand up ears and looks like a teddy bear but he's very tiny. You may be happier with a larger dog. I like stand up ears too!

We are ready and able for a puppy and hoping for one soon! The girls have a dog fund and have been stashing every single penny in it for over a year now. You'd be amazed what they have in dog fund! Can't wait to "meet" your newest family member!( well, both of them!)

Your sweet girl is as beautiful as ever and Philip and Catherine are adorable. A new baby!!! What a blessing! Congratulations to all of you! The nursery is darling!

Hugs to you!
