Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July!!

Happy 4th from last year!
Such a momentous holiday and so LOUD!
Recycled the beach photo below from a 2009 summer vacay at Hilton Head.
I need a beach visit soon!

We love to celebrate the 4th of July though it's become
a lot tamer than when the boys were young!
During those noisy years, it seemed like we were
constantly running to the fireworks stands for
more, more and more supplies!

Most years we head to the pool for fun
4th activities!  I have been know to think about doing the
biggest splash contest or noodle races, but I generally chicken out!
One year, someone (not saying who) had me try out
for the karaoke contest.  I came in dead last --  but hey,
at least I didn't get booted
out of the contest!
It was after that I realized I'm better at lip synch
than karaoke!
In other words, don't sing out loud!
I got the message!

Hope you all have loads of fun!
Stay safe!
Happy 4th!

Hello Monday - July 4 Wrap-Up

Well, hello Monday!

Don't you love a long weekend?
Especially the July 4th weekend!
So much celebrating, so much eating, so many loud noises! :)

We had loads of fun at the club pool
though it was so windy that day the skydivers had to cancel!
A little bummed as we love that tradition!
Connor joined us for some fun in the sun!
The pool was actually really cold as we had some chilly
days and nights last week!

While we were enjoying fun in the sun,
Mr. Tennis traveled to his hometown
to visit his sweet Mother for her 88th birthday
and see his brothers!
They did a little golfing! :)

Mr. Tennis with his brothers, Steve, James, Robin
We were so happy to have him home again!
Extremely hot and humid weather returned, so we had a little more pool time on Sunday
with Philip and Catherine and the little kids!
It was so much fun!
Actually -- such a good time that I forgot to get the camera out and sadly didn't get any photos!
Janie, Walt and Harry dominated the baby pool
and Maddy was the best pool helper!

Flashback 4th!

Isn't it fun to do a flashback post sometimes?
Yes, I agree --
especially since I seem to have a bit of blogger's block.

The heat and humidity has gone to my head, made my hair frizzy,
I can't think straight
and have been having huge heat-related headaches,
so let's just take a little trip down memory lane, shall we!!

Weekend Update and a Look Back

Maddy-- July 4, 2011

We had a fun 4th of July!
We spent the day doing a few things around the house, buying firecrackers, going to the pool and taking Miss Muffy for walks.  Our sweet neighbors organized a little get-together which was wonderful and then we watched a fireworks show put on by their daring teen sons and other neighborhood kids.  How I remember fondly (HA HA HA) the days when my two boys were blowing things up!   Funny (and nice) how much less we spent on fireworks this year for Maddy as compared to the years with the boys at home!

Muffy and Maddy -- July 2010

This time last year, we had just met our sweet pup Muffy. She was only about 8 weeks old.   Oh my, she was the most adorable of pups.  Funny how I have forgotten (not really) all the time I spent getting up during the night with her to take her out, protect her from opossums and urge her to go potty quickly.  Of course, those months passed by quickly (who am I kidding -- last summer was the longest ever!!) and now, she is the best little Scottie.  Have heard Scottie's described as little dogs with BIG personalities -- that fits her to a T!   She was a teensy 4 pounds when we met her last July and now full grown at almost 16 pounds.  She loves to be outside guarding the house and yard from naughty squirrels and rabbits.  She even caught a trespassing mouse a month ago!  Yay Muffy!

Muffy shares guarding the house duties with a ceramic Scottie!

Muffy and her best friend Maddy - July 2011
For some unknown reason, Muffy has taken a liking to sitting in this pot --weird, I know.  I think she may have buried a favorite treat in it known as a bully stick (chewy stick thing).  Maddy often asks if she is Muffy's best buddy?   The answer is a most definite yes!
