A Little Funny for You

At last -- the election is over!
No matter how we feel about the results :0
it's time to move forward with goodness
and kindness for all.
Here's something to smile about!

Mr. Tennis, in all of his Halloween glory,
masquerading
as Christopher Columbus or Marco Polo
(who really knows)!

Isn't he just a hoot and a half!
He loves this costume and I'm afraid he's
calling for formal apparel for Thanksgiving, and
this is his idea of formal apparel!
Heaven help us!

Who Wants to Go to a Movie?

Miss Maddy and I LOVE
going to the movies!
We especially love to go when the weather is nasty
outside and we can escape for a while!

Besides Black Friday shopping,
a movie at Thanksgiving time
is one of our traditions!
Truth be told, I may have taken a little snooze in
years past at some of the kiddie movies.
Big Thanksgiving meal + wine = napping in the theatre! :)

She has quite the list lately on movies she wants to see
including:
Meet the Coopers
The Good Dinosaur
The New Bond Movie
Mockingjay Part 2
the new Star Wars
and
of course,
The Peanuts Movie!

Bring on the buttered popcorn!

Thanksgiving Throwback Thursday on Wednesday!

Happy Thanksgiving All!!

Thought it would be fun to do a little Thanksgiving Throwback Thursday
on Wednesday!

Starting out with Thanksgiving 2008 -
we went to see the movie Bolt after dinner --
great movie --
I may or may not have caught a teensy nap during the movie! :)

Thanksgiving 2009
Unseasonably warm that year -- loved it!

Hello November!

It happened again -- I blinked and
October was over
and
November was here!

We had a definite taste of November and very
chilly weather on Halloween!
We are talking the 20s people!

You know what that means . . .
time to get out the vests with furry hoods and pull
on the comfy and warm boots!

Muffy has been a little under the weather, so
we took her on a fall photo walk Sunday afternoon.
She kind of enjoyed the walk, but
she is not a fan of the wind blowing
leaves around!
The wind makes the terrier in her want to fight those wild leaves!

You know what we love about November?
There are still some leaves on the trees and Thanksgiving and family
and pumpkin pie and feeling thankful!
Hello November!

Oh So Thankful!

Can't possibly let this special Thanksgiving holiday pass without doing a little early Thanksgiving edition - Thankful Thursday. And so, I am very thankful this year for:
  • My dear sweet Mother who is battling cancer and does so with grace and beauty and no complaints.

  • My sainted Dad who doesn't mind that I call him "Al" and he sits waiting by the phone (so he says) for my daily calls.

  • My own little family - Mr. Tennis, Philip & Catherine, Connor and Miss Maddy -- they make my life complete.

  • My friends in real life, at work, my neighborhood and my bloggy friends -- so happy and blessed to have all of you.

  • My twin sister who is hosting Turkey day for us and her many relatives.

  • My favorite Thanksgiving dish, not turkey, not stuffing, not pie -- though I do love all of those, but Fudge, that I am making -- yum!

  • My job -- thankful to have one and so many friends at work who make it a pleasure to come to work every day!

  • My faith -- I know there is power in prayer and feel it, especially this year.

  • Decent weather -- I know this is vain, but the cooler, less humid weather is so much kinder to me and my hair!

I could go on and on, as you can probably tell.

Best wishes to all for a very happy Thanksgiving.

Turkeyday Recap

Even though the title suggests otherwise, we had ham instead of turkey this year. We do like turkey, but Philip and Catherine were headed to her parents later in the day for turkey, so we decided to have ham instead. We had a bit of an eclectic menu including the ham, cheese potatoes, coleslaw salad, fruit salad, ham and cheese quiche, dinner rolls, veggie tray, pumpkin pie and an incredibly yummy chocolate and vanilla marble cake (cheesecake). Amazing that I pulled it off, but everything was ready at the same time -- I love it when a plan comes together like that! Also had a delightful white wine (white goes with ham, right??) Really, I think it goes with anything to tell the truth, don't you?? :)

Ooops -- did I have too much wine? I forgot to take my apron off for the picture!

Before dinner, Maddy challenged the guys to a series of checkers games to determine who is the reigning checkers champion. Can you guess who it is?? Yes, it's Maddy. She beat Philip and Connor in a number of matches very easily.

Later, Maddy and I carried on an old Thanksgiving tradition -- we went to the movies!! We saw Bolt -- a very good movie. Ok, I admit I snoozed a teensy bit during the movie. Actually I missed a key part, but still enjoyed the movie and could answer most of M's questions afterwards.

I ordered this darling "milkmaid frock" for Maddy after seeing it on another blog. Isn't it adorable? And look how excited she is below hearing that we are going to see Bolt!

And now the long weekend, some shopping and some holiday craftwork begins.

Enjoy your weekend!
